The Krug is rock solid as ever while the 2004 is logically even more youthful than the 2002 and it’s too early to drink.

Entre Chien et Loup is also very tough too drink right now.  While I wasn’t sure that evening , I am sure now that the Folatières is either a case of Premox or bad cellaring. Anyway the bottle was way off.

The Noble Man was probably the most interesting. Grand noble sweet Chardonnay.

Gosset was much more accessible than the Krug while not being better. Pacalet was surprising. Clean, fresh and crisp and enjoyable now.

Thank you Stefan, Isabel, Christine, Justin and Manuel for this truly epic night!!!!! There's not much to say. Every wine was definitely grand. Exceptions were maybe the Gantenbein Pinot Noir which was really off with bacon in the nose and unpleasant palate. We are pretty sure that this was an off bottle. Also, the Spätlese by Gantenbein was rather weak. Standing on my own I would presume that the 73 Unico was not clean but it's 5 against 1, so I might be off. As for the rest of the bottles, you can't drink better, only different!

Krug is as always killer but given the choice I would probably wait another 5-10 years with the 2002. Bollinger just can’t keep up. And 2004 was supposedly the better vintage but there’s more than just age that was missing. . Valentini rock solid while the Inox is special. You have to like the style but it is fascinating what Hartmut Aubell is producing in “secrecy”. Pure joy and modesty being to enjoy this from a unique 6l bottle. Would love to see how this ages though.

Pur Sang is a fascinating Sauvignon by icon Didier Dagueneau. Once again you could argue that it’s opened way too early.

Completing the Sauvignons is Tement with the 2000 Reserve. Probably one of the best Sauvignons in the world and not only outside of France. Working out terroir combined with a unique and distinctive style.

Coche-Dury needs no introduction.

La Chapelle, well, considering the price this was a weak bottle. Not sure whether it was an off bottle but it’s far far away from the icon 1990. While the nose is rich and intriguing the taste is dull and maybe even past its prime.

We didn't open the Krug here but I will get back to it. Rock solid Ulysse Collin and a surprising Bérêche & Fils Les Beaux Regards is a BdB with deep concentration and chalky minerality. If I remember correctly Les Monts Fournois was richer and fuller.

Savagnin Autrement is a spectacular natural wine with a typical bouquet but classic elegance and finesse. Drinks a lot better than what the nose might presume.

Les Chaupaudaises is very youthful and probably takes 5 more years to unravel its full potential. We didn't give it enough time and air to evolve but it gives a glimpse of what a great wine it could be. . Domaine Dujac is a solid Bourgogne Blanc.

Juffer GG already flashes of what slumbers inside. It is still young and as for a lot of Fritz Haag wines they need time to evolve. Shows strength and greatness but hasn't even begun to reach its full potential. The same goes for the Abtserde by Keller. Probably even in a suboptimal drinking window right now. The Frühlingsplätzchen was a lot more open and more fun to drink. Once again it shows that 2011 at the Nahe region wasn't as bad as some other regions in Germany. Kallstadter Saumagen was as expected. You need to like the style of Koehler-Ruprecht but it is showing well.

The Brunello is okay to drink but should probably also lay down for a while. However much better than 2012 right now and enjoyable.

I really like the Legacy Edition but I am more curious how this will look like in ten years time. It is still a baby and very youthful. Laser-like precision and very straight-forward.

The Brunello was past its prime unfortunately but you could feel that this was a very decent wine. It was still clean but tired. Still, not bad for a regular 93 Brunello.

Wine of the night was the Opus One. While it has received rather mediocre ratings, I strongly disagree. This was a perfect bottle and pure joy to drink! .

The Spätlese was also a bit tired and plump in texture. Good to drink but at least this bottle was nothing too special.

The Larmandier got better after an hour or two while it was completely choked in the beginning.  Laurent Lequart was Fabian‘s find with very good value but a touch too sweet for me even though the dosage is below 6g.

Grainhübel with lots of exotic fruit and pleasurable.

Hölle Auslese was surprisingly good for an Auslese from 2003. Creamy texture but very good wine.

Zeltinger Sonnenuhr was completely choked and not in a good state right now. According to Fabian grand last year and I trust his judgment. But right now, not enjoyable.

Brézé is a young 2015 and will take some more time but fabulous as always. . The Valbuena was strange as it opened up after a while but it was very different from what we all expected. Not in a good state or an off bottle.

Pichon Comtesse was one of the best wines I have ever tasted. A true icon! Thank you for sharing this bottle with us, Hans!

RdP is a grand Pinot in a very youthful state with decades to go. Nevertheless very enjoyable right now but I would give it 5-10 more years. . Thank you, Hans and Fabian !!!

Yes, many of the wines were too young. But it's hard to try new things and you will probably not get them with age. Or they might not be affordable. Before you ask the Grauburgunder was for our Korean food, so we needed something to flush the spicy and salty food down. But it's actually decent for a cheap Grauburgunder.
Best wines of the night for me personally were (of course) the 1998 Lafite, as well as the 2009 Aalto PS. 2017 BA by Knoll is still a baby but a power BA. There were no bad wines here but I had difficulties with a lot of their styles. La Doriane might be a classic but my takeaway is that this wine is definitely not for me. . Thank you Zonk, Werner, Hans, Henning and Alex!!! Epic night!

Jacquesson rock solid and good value for money. . Ganevat was our palate cleanser and it was an off bottle with extreme acidity. . Doosberg is not in a good spot right now with also a lotta acidity and muffled fruit. Seems to be closing up now. . Baron is not grand but very drinkable and enjoyable. Good value for an off-vintage. . Castillo Ygay was another off-bottle with lots of acidity and little balance and harmony. Pity since I was looking forward to this one. . Disappointment of the evening was the Monte Bello. None of us ever had a weak bottle of Ridge before. So unfortunately a very sad premiere for all of us. I am an absolute fanboy but this bottle(!) was weak. . Dolç was a souvenir that Jörg brought from Mallorca. . Even if some of the wines were disappointing, the crowd never was. Thank you, Hans, Jörg, Fabian and Alex!

Crazy night with heavy hitters Fabian, Robin, Santos, Savar and myself. thank you everyone for a grand night!

They were all very good wines but I would like to mention three. The 02 Ungeheuer was extremely strong which surprised me but I will need to revisit Mosbacher wines. Didn‘t have one in ages. Maybe a big mistake. . The 16 Clos de la Pucelle was spectacular and grand. Un-fuckin-believable how drinkable that young wine is. Not sure how it will sustain but this Chardonnay by Jean Chartron impressed me deeply. And the „wine“ of the night was the iconic Grande Cuvée (label was used from 2004-2011). A Krug is always a special thing. But this was seriously mind-blowing!
